After three years of actively bridging African and European innovation ecosystems and shaping the collaboration between Digital Innovation Hubs across continents we are delighted to invite you to the Final Summit of AEDIB|NET: Inspiring, Creating and Connecting African and European Innovation Ecosystems.

Save the Date:
The Final Summit will take place on 9 October 2023, 9 AM – 6 PM CAT (plus evening event) in Kigali, Rwanda. It will be an on-site only event.

The Final Summit will be the occasion to reflect, learn, share and discuss some of the main outcomes and promises of what we achieved together. From the concept of Digital Innovation Hubs on the African continent to opportunities of funding and investment, from the cooperation with corporates to the role of academia in ecosystems, and more – let us come together in working groups to shape the future of our journey! The Summit will be the opportunity to lay the foundation for AEDIB 2.0 and to discuss how we can best strengthen and connect innovation ecosystems in the future, to discuss what partnerships do we need and who wants to be part of it. 

Also, you will be inspired by keynotes and panel discussions holding the AEDIB|NET community of African and European digital innovation stakeholders, European Commission and European Member States representatives, as well as private sector partners from both continents.

The event will take place back-to-back with the AfriLabs Annual Gathering "Accelerating Africa's Digital Economy" which brings together Tech Hubs from all over Africa. The city will be full of innovative spark, creativity and progressive energy – just the perfect environment for us to shape the future of Digital Innovation Hubs across the continent as well as strengthen the collaboration between African and European innovation ecosystems.

The agenda of the Summit will address the following topics, through keynotes, panels and working groups:

• The final summit will commence with a welcome address by the European Commission
• The big picture of the AEU-EU Innovation Agenda
• DIH concepts and the opportunities they offer for international collaborations on both continents
• How to work with the private sector in practice
• AEDIB 2.0: the way forward for support to DIHs, and more
• Policy reforms to support entrepreneurship
• Innovative investment streams for ecosystems
• Towards a pan-African network of DIHs

… and other key questions for the future of innovation on both continents, as well as opportunities of networking and matchmaking within our network of partners.

The Summit will take place back-to-back with the AfriLabs Annual Gathering on 'Accelerating Africa's Digital Economy', which brings together tech hubs from across the African continent in Kigali, Rwanda, on 11-13 October. To register, click here.
